Most common Porsche 911 MOT defects and advisories

The single most common reason a Porsche 911 failed its MOT in 2025 was “Catalyst emissions: lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits”, on 9.7% of 5,728 failed tests. 25.8% of tests ended with at least one advisory, a problem to watch that did not fail the test; the most common was “Tread depth: worn close to legal limit or worn on edge”. The same fault on any wheel or side counts once.

The share with an engine of 2,901cc to 3,000cc has grown from 1.2% in 2014 to 30.0%. Petrols made up 87.5% of those licensed in 2014 and 94.0% in 2025.

Porsche 911 fuel economy and CO2

The Vehicle Certification Agency’s new car data lists the Porsche 911 from 2000, when the data begins, and still lists it. On the WLTP test (listings 2025 to 2026), official combined fuel economy for its petrol and petrol hybrid versions ranges from 20.5 to 27.2 mpg, with CO2 of 237 to 312 g/km. On the older NEDC test (listings 2000 to 2018), official combined fuel economy for its petrol versions ranges from 19.9 to 38.2 mpg, with CO2 of 169 to 345 g/km.

ASA0 - Check rear seat belt buckles and rework if necessary

Defect
Due to a process error in the production an aluminium butyl may have been positioned incorrectly and the screw connection of the rear left and right belt buckle was potentially not executed according to the specifications. If this is the case the correct fastening of the belt buckle cannot be guaranteed. The loosening of the rear belt buckles in the event of an accident or emergency braking cannot be ruled out. This could increase the associated risk of injury.
Remedy
The positioning of the aluminium butyl mat on the left and right of the affected vehicles must be checked and depending on the test result the screw connection must be reworked.
