Vehicle check

Check a vehicle

A free check of any car’s make, model and year works today. Checks by registration, and the fuller consumer and trade reports, are coming soon.

Check by registration

Coming soon

Lookups by registration start once our connection to DVSA’s MOT history service is live. Until then you can check a car’s MOT history and tax on GOV.UK.

We don’t store the registrations you check.

Free model check

Works now

Choose the car’s make, model and year of first registration for its MOT record, typical mileage, how many are left and its recalls.

Where the data comes from

  • Model figures: our analysis of DVSA’s MOT test data and DfT’s vehicle licensing statistics, and DVSA’s recall records.
  • The car’s own details and MOT history: DVSA’s MOT History API and DVLA’s vehicle record, through our server, so no keys reach your browser.
  • History checks, service records and values: specialist vehicle data suppliers, being set up one at a time.

We are independent and not part of DVLA or DVSA. For official services, use GOV.UK.
