About
About UK Motoring
Data about Britain’s cars, roads & drivers.
Government departments publish a remarkable amount of motoring data: every MOT test, every licensed vehicle, traffic counts on every major road, every police-reported collision and, now, the price at every filling station. Most of it sits in spreadsheets and bulk files that few people ever open.
UK Motoring turns that data into clear pages for drivers, buyers, journalists and researchers. We show how many of a car are left, how it does at its MOT, how busy a road is, how your area compares, and where each figure came from.
How we work
- Sourced. Every figure links to its dataset, with the period and update date.
- Independent. We are not part of any government body, manufacturer or dealer, and rankings are never sponsored.
- Careful. We only publish a page when the data behind it is strong enough. Our methodology explains how.
Using our figures
Journalists and researchers are welcome to cite our pages. Please credit UK Motoring and the original source shown on the page. Licences for each dataset are listed on our data attribution page.
