Ford Focus fuel economy and CO2
The Vehicle Certification Agency’s new car data lists the Ford Focus from 2000, when the data begins, and still lists it. On the WLTP test (listings 2019 to 2026), official combined fuel economy for its petrol, diesel and petrol hybrid versions ranges from 34.0 to 70.6 mpg, with CO2 of 106 to 190 g/km. On the older NEDC test (listings 2000 to 2018), official combined fuel economy for its petrol, diesel and other fuel versions ranges from 26.2 to 83.1 mpg, with CO2 of 88 to 237 g/km.

Defect
Affected vehicles may have been repaired using a coolant pump with a potential issue. This issue may lead to incorrect engine timing resulting in an engine failure causing a sudden loss of power without prior warning. The engine cannot be restarted.
Remedy
Check and replace the water pump and timing belt if necessary.
