Electric cars in the Vale of Glamorgan

2,802 battery electric cars were licensed in the Vale of Glamorgan at the end of June 2026, 3.8% of all cars, 177th lowest of 361 councils. With plug-in hybrids, 4,244 cars plug in. A year earlier there were 1,969.

Of the privately kept cars, which are registered at home addresses, 3.3% are battery electric (2,295 cars), 2nd highest of 22 councils in Wales. Companies keep 18.1% of the area’s battery electric cars, against 4.6% of its cars overall. There are also 94 battery electric vans.
