Ford C-Max MOT reliability

In 2025, 67.8% of Ford C-Max MOT tests were passed first time, against 72.8% for all cars. Cars of the same ages as the Ford C-Maxes tested pass 68.1% of the time, so the Ford C-Max does about as well as average for its age. In 2024 its pass rate was 68.8%.

Lamps, reflectors and electrical equipment is the most common reason a Ford C-Max fails its MOT, appearing on 41.1% of failed tests. A failed test can have defects in more than one category, so shares add up to more than 100%. 10.8% of Ford C-Max tests found at least one dangerous defect, against 7.3% for all cars.

Most common Ford C-Max MOT defects and advisories

The single most common reason a Ford C-Max failed its MOT in 2025 was “Brake pads: less than 1.5 mm thick”, on 10.2% of 34,103 failed tests. 59.6% of tests ended with at least one advisory, a problem to watch that did not fail the test; the most common was “Tread depth: worn close to legal limit or worn on edge”. The same fault on any wheel or side counts once.

Ford C-Max fuel economy and CO2

The Vehicle Certification Agency’s new car data lists the Ford C-Max from 2011 to 2020. On the WLTP test (listings 2019 to 2020), official combined fuel economy for its petrol and diesel versions ranges from 30.4 to 49.6 mpg, with CO2 of 148 to 212 g/km. On the older NEDC test (listings 2011 to 2018), official combined fuel economy for its petrol, diesel and other fuel versions ranges from 33.2 to 74.3 mpg, with CO2 of 99 to 176 g/km.
