How many Proton Gen 2s are left in Great Britain?
There were 111 Proton Gen 2s licensed in Great Britain at the end of March 2026, and a further 150 declared off the road (SORN).

Of the 127 Proton Gen 2s licensed in the UK at the end of 2025, 93.7% have an engine of 1,501cc to 1,600cc, and 6.3% have an engine of 1,301cc to 1,400cc. The share with an engine of 1,501cc to 1,600cc has grown from 86.2% in 2014 to 93.7%. Other fuels made up 16.4% of those licensed in 2014 and 29.1% in 2025.

Proton Gen 2 fuel economy and CO2
The Vehicle Certification Agency’s new car data lists the Proton Gen 2 from 2005 to 2011. On the NEDC test (listings 2005 to 2011), official combined fuel economy for its petrol versions ranges from 34.9 to 42.8 mpg, with CO2 of 157 to 192 g/km.

Short circuit may occur

Defect
The cable within the Clock Spring situated in the steering wheel can delimitate and become entangled within the assembly. This can cause a short circuit which can activate the horn or lights without warning and in extreme cases the driver's airbag.
Remedy
Recall affected vehicles for the replacement of the Clock Spring and associated wiring.
