How we use engine sizes.
MINI Cooper fuel economy and CO2
The Vehicle Certification Agency’s new car data lists the MINI Cooper from 2002, and still lists it. On the WLTP test (listings 2025 to 2026), official combined fuel economy for its petrol versions ranges from 39.7 to 47.9 mpg, with CO2 of 133 to 162 g/km; electric versions have an official range of 180 to 2,477 miles. On the older NEDC test (listings 2002 to 2018), official combined fuel economy for its petrol and diesel versions ranges from 31.4 to 80.7 mpg, with CO2 of 92 to 216 g/km.

Defect
On affected vehicles a cell module may not have been manufactured to specification. In the worst case this may lead to a short circuit which may result in a vehicle fire.
Remedy
On affected vehicles the defective cell module will be replaced. The affected vehicles must not have their batteries charged until rectified.
