Kia Cluster Malfunction Recall

Defect
The instrument cluster screen may respond slowly immediately after starting the vehicle. During this condition activating the turn signal can cause the cluster to reset or the Blind View Monitor (BVM) within the cluster to turn green. The malfunction is caused by PMIC noise induced falsely high temperature sensor readings which trigger the chip protection logic above a certain threshold and lead to performance limitation up to reboot or black screen.

Kia EV9 Seat Mounting Bolts

Defect
Due to an error by a plant assembly worker some of the seat mounting bolts may be missing in the subject vehicles. Seats with missing seat mounting bolts may not properly restrain an occupant during certain collisions potentially resulting in injuries in case of a crash.
Remedy
Inspect the mounting bolts and refit if required.

Kia EV9 IEB Upgrade for RSPA Function

Defect
On affected vehicles the manufacturer has determined that due to an error with the Integrated Electronic Brake (IEB) software repeated Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) stops may result in extended stopping distances while using RSPA.
Remedy
Update of the Integrated Electronic Brake (IEB) software with improved logic.

Kia EV9 and Niro SG2 Gear Drive Unit Recall

Launched 30 August 2024 DVSA recall R/2024/276 Manufacturer ref. 241054

Defect
On affected vehicles due to Improper torque applied to the Gear Drive Unit during assembly by the differential gear supplier they may exhibit a grinding noise while driving which can result in a loss of motive power and/or cause the differential to lock up.
Remedy
On the affected vehicles the Gear Drive Unit will be replaced.
