There were 143,101 BMW 2 Series licensed in Great Britain at the end of March 2026, and a further 1,616 declared off the road (SORN).
That is the most on the road at any year end since 2014.

“Tyres: cut in excess of the requirements deep enough to reach the ply or cords”, on 11.5% of 21,195 failed tests.
38.3% of tests ended with at least one advisory, a problem to watch that did not fail the test; the most common was “Tread depth: worn close to legal limit or worn on edge”.

How we use engine sizes.
BMW 2 Series fuel economy and CO2
The Vehicle Certification Agency’s new car data lists the BMW 2 Series from 2014, and still lists it. On the WLTP test (listings 2025 to 2026), official combined fuel economy for its petrol and petrol hybrid versions ranges from 32.1 to 53.3 mpg, with CO2 of 120 to 200 g/km; plug-in hybrid versions are rated at 97.4 to 313.9 mpg (weighted). On the older NEDC test (listings 2014 to 2018), official combined fuel economy for its petrol and diesel versions ranges from 33.2 to 74.3 mpg, with CO2 of 99 to 199 g/km; plug-in hybrid versions are rated at 134.5 to 141.2 mpg (weighted).

Reworking the PVC Seam in the Rear Light Housing

Defect
The safety recall relates to a PVC seam seal defect which may have occurred in the body area of the right real light housing. It is possible that seam sealant was not applied to a panel overlap area this may result in water ingress into the vehicle in the area of the right rear light. If water does enter the trunk in the area of the right rear light it may result in water ingress onto the exposed power distribution box as well as adjacent wiring harnesses and electrical components. It cannot be reliably excluded that electrical contacts may be affected particularly due to capillary effects. In this case moisture ingress and the resulting long-term corrosion may lead to increased contact resistance as well as functional degradation or failure of individual electrical components. Over the service life a thermal event cannot be completely ruled out.
Remedy
On the affected vehicles the PVC seam will be checked and if necessary reworked.

DVSA records the model name typed in at the test. We match those names to DVLA’s generic models, so a handful of tests may be counted under a close relative.
