Petrol, diesel and electric cars in Hertfordshire

26,745 battery electric cars were licensed in Hertfordshire at the end of March 2026, 4.3% of all cars. With plug-in hybrids, 43,341 cars plug in. A year earlier there were 20,395.

Of the privately kept cars, which are registered at home addresses, 3.5% are battery electric (20,842 cars). Companies keep 22.1% of the area’s battery electric cars, against 4.5% of its cars overall. There are also 1,061 battery electric vans.
