26C32 Mustang - Windshield Wipers and Washer System Potentially Inoperative During Freezing Temperatures

Defect
On affected vehicles during freezing temperatures or below the windshield wipers may become inoperative. In other cases the windshield wipers may operate only at the high-speed setting and an inoperative windshield washer system may prevent washer fluid from being effectively used to clean the windshield.
Remedy
Inspect the windshield wiper system and replace the wiper motor if necessary.

26C16 Mustang - Lane Keeping System Software Update

Launched 23 April 2026 DVSA recall R/2026/173 Manufacturer ref. 26C16

Defect
According to Ford’s records certain Mustang vehicles may not have the remedy for Compliance Recall 21C11 installed correctly but were recorded as having received the repair successfully. Because the correct software update may not have been installed on these vehicles the underlying condition may still exist therefore these vehicles may still have the incorrect software loaded for the Lane Keeping System (LKS). On affected vehicles not having the latest Lane Keeping System (LKS) software may lead to non-compliance with the current regulations relating to Hands-On-Off (HOO) chime requirements that became effective from April 1 2021. Dealers will update the Image Processing Module A (IPMA) and the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) to the latest available software level free of charge.
Remedy
Dealers will update the Image Processing Module A (IPMA) and the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) to the latest available software level free of charge.

Defect
On affected vehicles equipped with a Ford Performance Whipple Supercharger Upgrade Kit the updated software may not be able to detect module hardware errors leading to unintended acceleration or unintended vehicle movement increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Update the Powertrain Control Module software.

25C83 Mustang - Powertrain Control Module Software Update

Defect
On affected vehicles the software repair for previous recall 20C06 may not have been delivered properly and the underlying condition may still exist. The condition may cause the Gear Shift Indication to recommend gear changes at intervals that do not meet the specification.
Remedy
Update the Powertrain Control Module software and perform an additional verification process to ensure the configuration has been installed correctly.

25S92 Mustang - Potential Seat Belt Anchor Pretensioner Issue

Defect
Affected vehicles may experience corrosion that can weaken or detach the seatbelt anchor pretensioner cables for both front seats. A corroded pretensioner cable may not adequately restrain an occupant in a crash.
Remedy
Replacement parts are not yet available. If corrosion is detected dealers will provide the affected customer with a rental car until replacement seat belt pretensioner parts are available to be installed.

Mustang Brake Fluid Level Indicator Update

Defect
The software repair for a previous recall may not have been properly delivered to the vehicle. The underlying noncompliance specified in the recall still exists and customers will not receive a warning if there is a reduction in brake fluid below the recommended level in the master cylinder brake fluid reservoir.
Remedy
Update the Body Controller Module (BCM) software and / or replace it if necessary.

Defect
A number of vehicles could potentially be affected by water ingress in the Body Control Module (BCM) leading to corrosion inside. Water ingress into the BCM may prevent exterior lighting components from functioning as intended.
Remedy
Inspect and repair the windscreen for leaks if necessary. Replace BCMs affected by water ingress.

Front driver side air bag inflator housing may rupture

Defect
In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver side frontal airbag the front driver side air bag inflator housing may rupture and deploy the airbag abnormally. An inflator rupture could also result in metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
Remedy
Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and fit a revised Airbag Inflator into all affected vehicles.

Fire may occur

Defect
There may be reduced clearance between the battery cable wiring loom and the exhaust manifold. There is a possibility that the wiring could contact the manifold and result a short circuit and possible engine compartment fire.
Remedy
Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and apply additional heat resistant foil tape to the wiring loom and secure it away from the exhaust manifold using an additional clip fitted to the inner wing panel.

1999 1 recall

Throttle may not return to idle when cruise control is disengaged

Launched 6 April 1999 DVSA recall R/1999/021

Defect
Certain of the affected vehicles could be fitted with a cruise control cable that may interfere with the cruise control servo pulley and not allow the throttle to return to idle when disengaging the cruise control.
Remedy
Phase 1 - Write to owners advising them to immediately stop using the cruise control system and offering them the option of dealers disabling the system should they so wish. Phase 2 - As soon as replacement cruise control cables become available recall all affected vehicles for replacement of the cable.
