Petrol, diesel and electric cars in the High Peak

1,642 battery electric cars were licensed in the High Peak at the end of March 2026, 3.4% of all cars, 163rd lowest of 361 councils. With plug-in hybrids, 2,501 cars plug in. A year earlier there were 1,173.

Of the privately kept cars, which are registered at home addresses, 2.9% are battery electric (1,360 cars), 14th lowest of 35 councils in the East Midlands. Companies keep 17.2% of the area’s battery electric cars, against 3.8% of its cars overall. There are also 46 battery electric vans.
