Mazda2 Hybrid – Combination Meter Reprogramming

Defect
On affected vehicles improper programming of the combination meter display may cause the display to become inoperable and remain blank. This prevents the speedometer from being visible.
Remedy
Reprogramming of the combination meter with modified software. However if the issue is already present replace the combination meter.

Defect
The impeller in the low-pressure fuel pump may become deformed causing fuel pump failure.
Remedy
Replace the low-pressure fuel pump with an improved part.

Defect
Subject vehicles may be fitted with an incorrect purge valve bracket.
Remedy
Subject vehicles will be checked. If the incorrect part has been installed the part needs to be replaced. If there is any evidence of fouling between components the fuel pipe will also be replaced.

Software error can cause engine to fail

Launched 2 April 2018 DVSA recall R/2018/087 Manufacturer ref. AJ004A

Defect
On the subject vehicles the engine protection logic does not work properly. When the engine speed reaches maximum with no engine load present the software is unable to cut the engine. This could in extreme cases cause catastrophic engine failure. Immediate and catastrophic engine damage may result.
Remedy
Re-program the engine protection software within the PCM.

Handbrake may disengage unexpectedly

Launched 26 January 2018 DVSA recall R/2018/017 Manufacturer ref. AH047A

Defect
On the subject vehicles the tolerances of the teeth on the handbrake sector gear are outside Mazda Corporations design secifications. This reduces engagement between the handbrake sector gear and the ratchet pawl and can cause the handbrake to disengage unexpectedly. This could cause the parking brake to release unintentionally and the vehicle to move unexpectedly.
Remedy
Replacement of Handbrake lever mechanism.

Surface finishing of brake hose retaining clip may be insufficient causing possibility of corrosion and failure of clip.

Mounting points for seat runner may fail

Launched 31 May 2017 DVSA recall R/2017/150

Defect
One or more of the mounting points between the runner and the driver’s seat may fail.
Remedy
On affected vehicles inspect the driver’s seat frame to determine if seat lifter links are damaged. If no damage is evident fit reinforcement brackets and push nuts. If damage is present to the seat lifter link replace seat frame. If damage is restricted to stabilizer bar then the bar will be repaired plus brackets and push nuts fitted.

Fuel may leak

Defect
Silicone may have adhered to the welding surface of the roll-over valve (ROV) fitted to the fuel tank. The presence of silicone may have an effect on the welding causing the possibility of a fuel leak.
Remedy
On affected vehicles replace the fuel tank.

Defect
On affected vehicles silicone may have adhered to the welding surface of the rollover valve (ROV) fitted to the fuel tank during production The presence of silicone may have an effect on the welding causing the possibility of a fuel leak.
Remedy
Replace fuel tank on affected vehicles.

Steering may fail

Launched 30 June 2016 DVSA recall R/2016/143 Manufacturer ref. AF071A

Defect
The lower nut & bolt securing the front shock absorber to the steering knuckle on either side of the affected vehicles may not have been tightened to specification. The bolt may work loose causing a rattling sound and could fall out.
Remedy
On affected vehicles replace bolts retaining the front shock absorbers to steering knuckles
