Not every Jeep Avenger is affected. Each recall covers cars built on particular dates or with
particular VINs, which DVSA’s file does not list in full. To check a specific car, use

Defect
On some vehicles the Electronics Stability Control (ESC) warning light and the relative warning message may appear on the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) and the ESC may deactivate. In the worst case the vehicle could lose controllability when braking due to Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) not being available.
Remedy
Replace the Electronic Brake System (EBS) Module.

Fuel particulate filter pressure pipe

Defect
On affected vehicles due to a production nonconformity there may be contact or a reduced clearance between the fuel Particulate Filter pipe and the pole protection cup of the 48V Belt Starter Generator. Under wet conditions there is a possibility that this insufficient clearance may lead to water infiltration creating an electrical arc which could trigger a thermal event such as overheating. In the worst-case scenario this could result in a risk of fire in the engine compartment.
Remedy
Replace the pole protection cup of the 48V Belt Starter Generator. In addition check the distance between the fuel Particulate Filter pipe and the pole protection cup of the 48V Belt Starter Generator. If the distance is less than 10 mm re-position the pipe or replace the pipe if damaged.

Jeep Avenger 2025. Brake pedal

Defect
On affected vehicles due to a production nonconformity there is a requirement to inspect the brake pedal bracket connection and if necessary perform a rework to eliminate any potential risk of brake pedal disengagement. In the event of brake pedal failure the Electronic Park Brake located on the centre console can be applied while driving to bring the vehicle to a controlled stop. Additionally when active the Automatic Emergency Braking system will intervene if it detects an imminent collision.
Remedy
Check for the presence of the clip confirming correct assembly and reworking it if necessary.

Jeep Avenger. Emissions recall. Stop&Start not functioning software update. r Switch Harness Failure

Defect
On a number of Jeep Avenger ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles equipped with start/stop function and manual transmission the Stop&Start function may not activate correctly. This will result in the engine continuing to run when Stop&Start should be active not shutting off as Stop&Start is intended. This is due to incorrect BCM (body control module) coding software and therefore CO2 levels may increase which does not match the CO2 values homologated and displayed in the CoC (Certificate of Conformity). This can lead to non-compliance with emissions regulations.
Remedy
The repair is the Jeep retailer will update the BCM with the latest software to permanently rectify the issue. Jeep ref: 36C.

Defect
A number of Jeep Avenger BEV vehicles may not comply with emissions test requirements conducted by the relevant authorities. This may lead to a non-compliance of regulatory requirements.
Remedy
The repair is the Jeep dealer will update the eVCU (electric vehicle control unit) with the latest software to permanently rectify the issue. Jeep ref: 17C.

Jeep Avenger fuel pipe

Defect
On affected vehicles there is a risk of a fuel leak at the high-pressure fuel pipe and rail connections which in a worst-case could result in a vehicle fire.
Remedy
Check and tighten high-pressure fuel pipe and rail connections.

Defect
Affected vehicles may have been fitted with a steering rack which does not conform to specification. This can lead to the need for increased force to rotate the steering wheel and in a worst-case scenario the steering may lock causing a crash.

Replace the steering rack.

Defect
On affected vehicles equipped with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) functionality the AEB/LKA (Active Emergency Brake/Lane Keep Assist) can be deactivated simultaneously. The vehicle does not therefore meet regulatory requirements.

Install updated software.

High voltage battery homologation label

Defect
On affected vehicles the High Voltage (HV) battery may be missing the homologation label.
Remedy
Fitment of missing homologation label to HV battery.
