Does a recall affect your Honda HR-V?

Not every Honda HR-V is affected. Each recall covers cars built on particular dates or with particular VINs, which DVSA’s file does not list in full. To check a specific car, use GOV.UK’s vehicle recall check with its registration, or ask the manufacturer or a dealer, who can check the VIN.

During assembly the cabin harness clip was broken resulting in the harness not being correctly secured in front left chassis rail / suspension turret area

Launched 2 October 2018 DVSA recall R/2018/225 Manufacturer ref. HUK6CH

Defect
During vehicle assembly the cabin harness was pulled to make the process easier to manage. By pulling the harness a clip was broken or dislodged resulting in the harness not being correctly secured in the front left chassis rail / suspension turret area. In around 10% of affected units the harness makes contact with the transmission mount. The vibration of the transmission can cause the harness to be damaged. If the conductors are exposed this can result in a short circuit and blown fuse. Customer complaints are that the engine does not start and/or the wiper does not work. The engine does not start and/or the windscreen wipers do not work.
Remedy
The technician will carry out an inspection of the cabin harness and harness clip to determine the required repair: Replace harness clip if it is damaged/missing; Repair the cabin harness in the case of mild abrasion to the harness outer; Replace the cabin harness in the case of exposed conductors.
Vehicles affected
5,097 HR-V vehicles

  • Road vehicle recalls (DVSA numbers starting R/) whose model names match the Honda HR-V. DVSA records some recalls under a range or chassis name we cannot match, so this list may be incomplete.
  • Vehicles affected is the number the manufacturer reported to DVSA. When one recall covers several models, DVSA often gives only the total.
  • Build dates are the periods the manufacturer gave. Some recalls have none. VINs are not shown.
  • Concerns written in capitals have been put in sentence case, and apostrophes lost in DVSA’s file have been put back. The text is otherwise DVSA’s.
