Does a recall affect your Fiat Multipla?

Not every Fiat Multipla is affected. Each recall covers cars built on particular dates or with particular VINs, which DVSA’s file does not list in full. To check a specific car, use GOV.UK’s vehicle recall check with its registration, or ask the manufacturer or a dealer, who can check the VIN.

Fiat Multipla recalls by year

Recalls launched each year, 2006 to 2026

2006 had the most, with 2. A count of recalls is not a measure of safety: one recall can cover a handful of cars or tens of thousands.

2007 2 recalls

Brakes may fail

Launched 7 December 2007 DVSA recall R/2007/173 Manufacturer ref. 5260

Defect
Due to the possibility of a fault in the production process the flexible rubber brake hoses may not have been correctly vulcanised. As a consequence may partially or totally restrict the internal flow of the brake hydraulic fluid. Should this happen a reduction in efficiency during braking would occur.
Remedy
Recalled vehicles will have the hoses checked to identify if they are within the affected batch. If this is the case they will be replaced with quality assured items.
Vehicles affected
4,804 across everything the recall covers
Built
6 Nov 2007 to 19 Nov 2007

Possibility of a fuel leak and risk of fire

Launched 2 February 2007 DVSA recall R/2006/224

Defect
Due to the incorrect profiling of a rigid fuel pipe at the quick fit connection with the flexible fuel pipe for the injection manifold. The possibility exists that a fuel leak may develop at the connector and result in a fire in the engine compartment.
Remedy
Recalled vehicles will have a locking insert fitted within the quick fit connector in order to prevent the connector from becoming loose.
Vehicles affected
14 Multipla vehicles
Built
1 Jun 2006 to 31 Oct 2006

2006 2 recalls

Brake fluid may leak

Launched 26 July 2006 DVSA recall R/2006/085

Defect
It may be possible for the handbrake cable to foul the rigid brake pipe at the right hand rear suspension arm. In time this could lead to wear of the rigid brake pipe and as a consequence there maybe a loss of brake fluid and longer stopping distances.
Remedy
Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to check the routing of the handbrake cable and fit rubber pads to the rigid brake pipe to prevent fouling.
Vehicles affected
2,278 Multipla vehicles
Built
1 Apr 2002 to 28 Feb 2003

Suspension coil spring may break

Launched 24 March 2006 DVSA recall R/2006/015

Defect
Under environmental conditions that require intensive use of salt on the roads corrosive deposits accumulate inside the noise-insulating protective sheath located on the front suspension springs creating areas of corrosion which may lead to the spring breaking after a period of time.
Remedy
Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and replace the front coil springs with those of a new type.
Vehicles affected
10,276 Multipla vehicles
Built
1 May 1999 to 31 Dec 2004

  • Road vehicle recalls (DVSA numbers starting R/) whose model names match the Fiat Multipla. DVSA records some recalls under a range or chassis name we cannot match, so this list may be incomplete.
  • Vehicles affected is the number the manufacturer reported to DVSA. When one recall covers several models, DVSA often gives only the total.
  • Build dates are the periods the manufacturer gave. Some recalls have none. VINs are not shown.
  • Concerns written in capitals have been put in sentence case, and apostrophes lost in DVSA’s file have been put back. The text is otherwise DVSA’s.
