Loss of electric power steering assist whilst driving

Defect
These vehicles may experience a loss of electric power steering (EPS) assist whilst driving.
Remedy
Replace the power steering gear assembly.

Frontal airbags and seatbelt pretensioners

Launched 8 September 2016 DVSA recall R/2016/216 Manufacturer ref. 16007EU

Defect
The Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) which controls the airbag and pretensioner deployment contains a software defect which may prevent the deployment of frontal airbags and pretensioners in certain rare circumstances. If the frontal airbags and seatbelt pretensioners do not deploy when required there is an increased risk of injury to occupants in a crash.
Remedy
Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and reprogram the SDM with new software. In vehicles with any previous deployment events recorded in the SDM the existing SDM will be replaced with a new SDM containing the latest software.

Low beam headlights may fail

Launched 7 April 2015 DVSA recall R/2015/009 Manufacturer ref. 13146EU

Defect
On affected vehicles the low beam wire to the relay may internally fracture due to expansion and contraction. This may lead to the low beam not working when the engine bay is hot and the wire has expanded. When the wire cools the low beam may be re-connected.
Remedy
Modify wiring on affected vehicles.

Roof panel may detach

Defect
On models fitted with removable roofs some roofs may not be bonded correctly. The driver & occupants should receive warning of the issue in the form of noise and water leaks. Ultimately this could cause the roof to detach.
Remedy
A new design roof panel is to be fitted.

Defect
It has been identified that in rare cases repeated movement of the steering column may cause a signal interruption within the column. If this occurs it can affect the Active Handling System which can cause instability within the vehicle. The driver will be identified of the issue by the illumination of warnings lights on the dash. However if the driver does not take action then a crash could occur.
Remedy
Inspect the wire connection in the steering column and if necessary install an additional clip to secure the wire connection.
