Frontal airbags and seatbelt pretensioners

Defect
The Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) which controls the airbag and pretensioner deployment contains a software defect which may prevent the deployment of frontal airbags and pretensioners in certain rare circumstances. If the frontal airbags and seatbelt pretensioners do not deploy when required there is an increased risk of injury to occupants in a crash.
Remedy
Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and reprogram the SDM with new software. In vehicles with any previous deployment events recorded in the SDM the existing SDM will be replaced with a new SDM containing the latest software.

Possible risk of fire

Defect
A short circuit on the printed circuit board for the washer fluid heater may overheat the control-circuit ground wire. This may cause other electrical malfunctions create an odour or cause smoke. In rare cases it may cause a fire.
Remedy
Recall all affected vehicles and install a wiring harness which includes an in-line fuse.
