Does a recall affect your Suzuki Baleno?

Not every Suzuki Baleno is affected. Each recall covers cars built on particular dates or with particular VINs, which DVSA’s file does not list in full. To check a specific car, use GOV.UK’s vehicle recall check with its registration, or ask the manufacturer or a dealer, who can check the VIN.

Suzuki Baleno recalls by year

Recalls launched each year, 1999 to 2026

2018 had the most, with 2. A count of recalls is not a measure of safety: one recall can cover a handful of cars or tens of thousands.

2022 1 recall

Some vehicles have an inappropriate design and material on check valve of vacuum pump

Launched 1 December 2022 DVSA recall R/2022/267 Manufacturer ref. R22/01

Defect
Some vehicles have an inappropriate design and material on the check valve of brake vacuum pump.
Remedy
Replace the vacuum pump check valve.
Vehicles affected
71,508 across everything the recall covers
Built
4 Mar 2016 to 20 Apr 2018

2018 2 recalls

Integrated starter generator belt belt may fail

Launched 26 March 2018 DVSA recall R/2018/078 Manufacturer ref. R18/03

Defect
Due to a lack of strength in the Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) Belt may break during usage. If this happens the water pump will become inoperative and the charging light will illuminate. The coolant temperature warning light will also light due to an increase in coolant temperature. In the worst case scenario the engine may stall and not restart.
Remedy
On affected vehicles replace the ISG belt.
Vehicles affected
2,247 across everything the recall covers
Built
10 Feb 2016 to 12 Jan 2017

Battery may fail to charge which could cause engine to stall and lights to fade

Launched 13 March 2018 DVSA recall R/2018/071 Manufacturer ref. R18/02

Defect
Due to incorrect software in the Engine Control Module (ECM) the ENG A-STOP (Engine Auto Stop Start System) OFF light may blink & the ENG A-STOP system may become inoperative. If the car is driven continuously in this condition the lead-acid battery will not be charged. In the worst case there is a possibility that the lights will dim and the engine may stall and not restart due to low battery voltage.
Remedy
Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and reprogramme the ECM with corrected software.
Vehicles affected
6,313 across everything the recall covers
Built
2 Feb 2016 to 22 Nov 2017

2000 1 recall

Front suspension strut mounting studs may shear

Launched 8 May 2000 DVSA recall R/2000/014

Defect
Due to flexing of the suspension strut mounting turret it is possible that the suspension strut mounting studs may shear. Should all 3 mounting studs shear the suspension strut may detach from the mounting turret.
Remedy
Recall all affected vehicles for the fitment of upper and lower reinforcement plates to the suspension turret and the fitment of new strut mountings.
Vehicles affected
3,115 across everything the recall covers
Built
1 Jun 1995 to 28 Sept 1999

Possibility that the drivers side airbag when activated may deploy with a force greater than originally designed

Launched 25 June 1999 DVSA recall R/1999/045

Defect
During manufacture of the airbag propellant module the propellant crystals were exposed to a high humidity environment which increased the moisture content to 1.2% with the result that during activation the airbag might deploy with a greater force than originally designed.
Remedy
Recall affected vehicles and replace the drivers airbag with a quality assured unit.
Vehicles affected
137 across everything the recall covers
Built
1 Dec 1997 to 31 Jan 1998

  • Road vehicle recalls (DVSA numbers starting R/) whose model names match the Suzuki Baleno. DVSA records some recalls under a range or chassis name we cannot match, so this list may be incomplete.
  • Vehicles affected is the number the manufacturer reported to DVSA. When one recall covers several models, DVSA often gives only the total.
  • Build dates are the periods the manufacturer gave. Some recalls have none. VINs are not shown.
  • Concerns written in capitals have been put in sentence case, and apostrophes lost in DVSA’s file have been put back. The text is otherwise DVSA’s.
