Brake lights may malfunction

Defect
The vehicles brake lights may intermittently malfunction due to carbonisation of the contacts within the brake light switch. This can also affect other systems on the vehicle including: ESC cruise control gear selection (autoboxes) engine check lamp.
Remedy
Recall vehicles likely to be affected to replace the brake light switch.

2011 1 recall

Shift lever may not engage

Launched 3 May 2011 DVSA recall R/2011/030

Defect
There is a possibility that the shift cable may have been installed incorrectly causing tension on the cable not anticipated in the design. If present this condition could cause the cable to detach from the shiftier assembly's dowel pin preventing the transmission from being shifted. The shift lever can then be moved into the park (P) position while the transmission is still in the last used gear before detachment. If the driver leaves the vehicle without engaging the parking brake there is a possibility the vehicle can roll creating the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Vehicles affected will have the cable inspected to ensure it is fitted correctly if incorrect the cable will be refitted with a new mounting bush.

Side airbag wiring may have been transposed

Defect
The opposite side air bag may deploy in the event of a side impact due to the electrical connections being transposed.
Remedy
Fit new air bag wiring harness to all affected vehicles.
