Does a recall affect your BMW IX3?

Not every BMW IX3 is affected. Each recall covers cars built on particular dates or with particular VINs, which DVSA’s file does not list in full. To check a specific car, use GOV.UK’s vehicle recall check with its registration, or ask the manufacturer or a dealer, who can check the VIN.

BMW IX3 recalls by year

2023 had the most, with 2. 2026 runs to 14 September 2026. A count of recalls is not a measure of safety: one recall can cover a handful of cars or tens of thousands.

Check the Head Airbag Threaded Connection; Rework if Necessary

Launched 4 June 2026 DVSA recall R/2026/224 Manufacturer ref. BMW - 0072990200

Defect
BMW has decided to initiate the safety recall “Curtain Airbag” with regard to the BMW model NA5. On affected vehicles both curtain airbags (left and right) may not have been properly screwed according to specification. If the curtain airbag is not installed properly it cannot be ruled out that noises (rattling) may occur while driving. Furthermore if the airbag deploys this may result in altered deployment characteristics and the inflator generator may become separated. This could increase the risk of injury.
Remedy
On affected vehicles the screw connection of the curtain airbags (left and right) will be checked and reworked if necessary.

Defect
BMW has decided to initiate the safety recall “Replace the Onboard Charger” with regards to the certain BMW NA5 models. On affected vehicles the onboard charger will be replaced. On affected vehicles the onboard charger will be replaced.

  • Road vehicle recalls (DVSA numbers starting R/) whose model names match the BMW IX3. DVSA records some recalls under a range or chassis name we cannot match, so this list may be incomplete.
  • Vehicles affected is the number the manufacturer reported to DVSA. When one recall covers several models, DVSA often gives only the total.
  • Build dates are the periods the manufacturer gave. Some recalls have none. VINs are not shown.
  • Concerns written in capitals have been put in sentence case, and apostrophes lost in DVSA’s file have been put back. The text is otherwise DVSA’s.
